Jumping on the Bandwagon
Alright, I can already tell what you're thinking, "Another blog..seriously?" Yeah. Another blog. Seriously. You don't have to read it though. You're free to choose! Welcome to America folks.
So, as you can tell, I'm a bandwagon-er. I don't start trends, I follow them. So here I am: Blogging. Really, its a gift to you all. Basically I'm putting thoughts that I would write down in my journal, on the internet, available for all to see. Now you don't have to come into my room and search for it. You're welcome. :) Granted, that would be extremely creepy if you tried to do that, but you know, some people are creepy. Yet, we love them anyway. I've even had my creepy moments, but that will be a post for another time. And yes, there will be another time. It's exciting. You can jump a few times if you please. I did.
That kind of leads into what I want to post about, but not really, so I'm just going to go for it:
WHO CARES?! (Don't be scared of the caps lock - It's only for emphasis.)
I am one of those people who is very conscientious about what others are going to think. Perfect example: This blog. I have always wanted to start a blog. I thought it would be super fun, and super fun is usually appealing to me. However, when I saw that so many people had blogs I thought, "Oh if I start a blog, everyone will just think that I'm a copier/bandwagon-er." "What if people hate the things I have to say?" "What if I'm awkward and people just come to realize it more by reading my innermost thoughts?" Well kids, I now have an answer to all those questions: Who cares? If I want to start a blog, I should start a blog. (Same goes to you reader, if you exist.) Remember how there is opposition in all things? Chances are, there is always going to be someone who won't like what you have to say, BUT, chances are there is someone out there in the world who needs to hear exactly what you have to say.
So, I have come up with a few suggestions for life:
- Be YOU. (Seriously, this has been said so many times, and I had heard it so many times, but it took me a very long time to really grasp the concept. You are you, that is truer than true. There is one on earth who is you-er than you. You can thank Dr. Suess for that inspiration. Basically for most inspiration.;))
- Don't be afraid to try new things. (Ok - Unless they aren't smart. Don't go jump off of cliffs because of this blog post. You can, however, go put some nutella on beef jerky! Its pretty good. Creation Credit: Katie Ditton)
- Be awkward. (Life is just more fun. Have you seen Miranda Sings?)
- Laugh. Alot. (Not only does this just brighten your entire life, but it also gives you a great ab workout. So..bonus!)
- Quit judging yourself. (Notice it doesn't say others. We are constantly reminded not to judge others, but how often are we judging ourselves? News flash: Nobody's Perfect, Hannah Montana said so. Also the scriptures say so, and those are definitely more reliable.) Wouldn't the world be a much better place if we could all learn to love who we are? I believe if we all took the time to be grateful for our lives, our bodies, our talents, and took the time to truly see the good in ourselves - our eyes would be opened to the good in others.
- Have random dance parties! (Didn't fail your test? **Dance** Got that girl's/boy's number? **Dance** Ate a corn dog? **Dance** There's about 1000 more, but you can figure those out on your own. I believe in you.)
- Be an Optimist. (Even if you can only find one thing in your entire day that is positive, it counts. Today I won 2 wreaths from the silent auction. P.S. I danced about it.)
- Surround yourself with people that lift you up, not tear you down. (No brainer? Kinda. No one deserves to be torn down, and no one deserves to be mistreated. You rock. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. People that try to tear you down are like Pumpkin Pie - nobody needs it in their life.)
I apologize for the level of cheese that increasingly went up throughout this post, but actually I don't. Because I thoroughly enjoy cheesiness, and the doctor told me to add more dairy into my life.. so this counts, right? We'll pretend. I also think this is the point where I stop writing things? It's my blog, so I guess I get to make the rules. Meaning: This is the end. Try not to cry though. My life and mind do not end here. :) Last bit of advice comes from the words of one of my favorite teachers: "Wear something cute, and don't take any crap." You rock. Keep on rockin.
